Barometer

The barometer has been on my Nan's living room wall for as long as I can remember. When she moved into a nursing home this year she asked me if there was anything I wanted, this is what I chose. Object: Buck Barometer Size: 40cm Location: London, England Submitted by: Lisa Comerford

Paperweight

My grandmother (grammy) had this on the table that she kept her phone on forever, for as long as I could remember. She was really aging and on a visit I commented on how I always liked it and she said I could take it and she gave it to me. It's so different and unique and very special!  Object: Little Rock People Paperweight Age When Given: 20 Location: Hunderton County, New Jersey Submitted by: Erin Sargent

Llama Bracelet, Medallion, Amber Heart

Object: Llama bracelet My grandmother "Happy" Harriet Loeb Feeney gave me this silver cuff bracelet around 2007. She has always travelled extensively and collected treasures along the way. I would be guessing on the date but it was clearly purchased for her in Peru. Judging by the tarnish and craftsmanship of the item, I would guess it came from the first half of the 20th century. It is a 5 panel raised and carved narrative of a shepherd and his llamas trekking across the Andes. Every time I wear it I feel connected to her and her world travels.

Object: Medallion In the 1890s my great great grandfather Max Loeb moved to Mexico City to begin a china import and export business. He and his wife Florence Rubel Loeb built a house on Calle Liverpool in what clearly was the European section of Mexico City. In 1911 the family had to flee the city because of the Mexican Revolution. This medallion is marked with Max Loeb's initials on one side and a beautifully intrique Aztec calendar on the other. My grandmother "Happy" Harriet Loeb Feeney passed this medallion down to me along with a number of family heirlooms from this period of time. I scrubbed the tarnish away to reveal this delicate turn of the century metalwork.

Object: Amber Heart This necklace was given to me for my 8th Christmas from my neighbors and surrogate grandparents Barbara and Harry Double. I wore this amber heart almost every day of 4th grade. The silk chord was sewn together as a makeshift chain by Harry Double who is now 94 years old. Barbara passed away in 2010 and is missed everyday by those who knew her.
